Hi all, i was wondering if there is any way of accessing the "system" folder via windows explorer? (either on the phone memory or memory card)

Yes, if someone writes a phone-based app that does what's needed on the phone side, and then also a Windows Explorer extension that talks to the phone-based app.

Otherwise, no.

think you got the wrong end of the stick, what i mean is when you connect up the 6630 you can view it in windows ex, you can see the phone along with the stick memory but it doesnt show the system folder. I check "hiddern" folder option but that didnt help.

Nope, no third party software required, although something with more functionality would be preferable.

Anyway, here's how to do it with PC Suite:

Create a folder on your PC called "System". Connect the phone via Bluetooth/USB, start up Windows Explorer, and click on your phone's name in the "Nokia Phone Browser" folder. Note how Phone Memory (C) and the name of your memory card (E) are both now shown in the right hand pane of Explorer.

Drag and drop the System folder on your PC to first the phone memory (C), then the memory card (E). This will give an error (Operation failed; the item is not found on your phone), ignore it and click on the + sign next to either phone memory or memory card in the left pane under Nokia Phone Browser.

You will see that the System folder is there and can be viewed and edited in the same way as the rest of the content on the drives.

Here's how it looks on my machine: http://www.urbanbomb.co.uk/system.gif

Still can't copy the Contacts.cdb file without starting a backup though 😡

Note that this process will have to be repeated every time you reconnect the phone.

Hope that helps.

6630 has express slot for the mmc so just buy a card reader they only retail for $10 its much faster and easier 😃
