Restrictions on Java compared with C++

I am looking for information on specific APIs and features that are supported only using C++ and not Java on Symbian phones. Is there a site that compares the two languages based on the core Symbian APIs and then the specific phone features enabled through SDKs and provided APIs.

In developing applications that aren't processor intensive (simple interface, preferrably background processing, and a bit of SSL communication), what are the tradeoffs between C++ and Java? Speed doesn't seem to be a concern (i.e. no rendering) and arent most APIs (communication, security, etc.) implemented for both languages now?

Thanks in advance,
EE

Seconded. This was a top hit googling "symbian java c++", so I'm sure lots of other people came here looking for an answer to the same question 😊

S60 3rd Edition SDK for Sybmian OS had a section titled "Comparison of Java and C++ Development" that goes into detail answering this.

Even I wanted to know about this but Google landed me here. Can anybody please help or atleast tell me the resource so that I will do some research and will find out theanswer for the question...
