One friend say to me that they doing that:
Converting MP3 to WAV;
EDIT WAV (IF is just to Ringtone), if you dont gone used to ringtone dont need edit);
Convert to MONO;
And after to AMR!
Play in NOkia normal, like rintone and appears like MP3!
Use DBpowerAMP to convert your MP3's to WAV. You can specify before converting if you want it in mono/stereo, what bit rate etc. From there, I use Window's built in Sound Recorder to edit my wav files. After editing, i send it to the phone.
The easiest way to convert to AMR is using Nokia Multimedia convertor from Forum Nokia. However, its a hefty download (17MB). I havent tried it, so i dont know abt the quality.
dbpoweramp can be found at - www.dbpoweramp.com
Forum Nokia (convertor) - forum.nokia.com
im using WAV (ADPCM) with 22khz, Stereo and i thing that has 177kbit/s, its the same size MP3/Ogg!
The sound to be ringtone its very nice!
