Nokia PC Suite - Old versions still present and causing havoc.

I have no idea what series of Symbian my phone has (Nokia 6230) so I apologise if I have posted in the wrong forum.

Basically I am having problems with Nokia PC Suite. Having failed to follow Nokia's instructions when upgrading from v4 to v5 and then to v6 I have remnants of versions 4 and 5 still in my PC and totally resistant to uninstallation. If I could get v6 working with no problems I wouldn't be worried, but none of the applications in v6 seems to work (with the exception of phone backup).

When I install v6 and run phone browser I get the old v4(or v5, not sure) interface and all the menus are messed up, with missing and invalid file paths. Worse still I cannot access any of my phone's data (connected thru a working bluetooth dongle).

v4 and v5 still appear in my programs list, with no option to install. I have tried Advanced Uninstaller with no joy and also used Nokia's registry cleaner. I have no idea how to wipe my system and start with a clean installation of PC Suite v6.

Hopefully someone else out there has had experience of this problem. Any suggestions?
