Non availability of 9500

What on earth is going on??
My 9210 is on it's last legs and I desperately want to upgrade, and I've now decide that it's a 9500 I want.
However, Vodafone only has units with the original firmware, and I've just been into the main CPW branch in Aberdeen and there seemingly isn't a 9500 available anywhere in the CPW!!!
So is there something we're not being told??
I simply want a 9500, but I don't see the point in getting one from Vodafone when sooner or later I'm going to have to send it away to be upgraded. And from what I understand, v4.51 is a significant improvement against the original v4.44.
I supose it would be silly to hope that Mr.Nokia might be a member of this forum and could give us an answer???!!!

Well you can buy it off Vodafone, and with the warrenty you'll get the free firmware upgrade. It only takes a couple of hours to do the upgrade.

Dont bother waiting, go and buy the phone. V4.51 is Country/Language specific and its going to be available in the UK after a long time.

It might only take a couple of hours to physically upgrade the firmware, my information is that it's actually done "while you wait" in some countries, but according to Vodafone retail it "would have to be sent away" to have this done.
Also, according to this or another forum, a CPW in the south of England was supposedly able to do the upgrade.
So there's no way that I'm going to get a 9500 and then have to do without it for maybe a week or so while it's sent away to be upgraded.
If you read the financial pages, you will see from time time reports that Nokia as a company hasn't had a great time recently. It probably shouldn't be a surprise considering the farce over the 9500 and 9300!!!

im lucky enough to live about 10 mins away from my local NSC in the south of england (not a CPW btw) and afaik they do all their firmware upgrades on site and while you wait, im not trying to rub it in here, but im sure you could find somewhere near-ish to arrange a visit for firmware upgrade.

also, dont always trust what vodafone say to you. i got told (by a vodafone call centre bod) to visit my NSC to have my antenna checked out when i complained i couldnt receive mms messages on my 6600. :stupid:

hi all...i am a new bite in this forum...could any one tell me how can i check the version for example v4.4 or v4.51 of my new 9500... thanks

dial *#0000# on the communicator's cover. Dont press "call" just type *#0000# and after the last # youll see your phones version.
