mRouter Bluetooth Port Problem

6 replies · 13,849 views · Started 21 February 2005

I don't know if I am being stupid but I have a problem trying to get mRouter (and hence PC Connect) to connect via bluetooth.

I am using the standard Windows XP bluetooth software and have paired the computer with the X.

I gave it COM5 to use, but mRouter does not have an option of this, only COM500 (which I cannot select due as the options only go up to 256!). See the screenshot below:

Am I being stupid? How can I get mRouter to update the list of ports (I have removed and re-installed PC Connect)?

Thanks in advance

Mart

Try this ( works for me )

My Computer -> Bluetooth Places - Select "Sendo X serial port connection".

This will fource the BT adaptor to try to establish a connection, mrouter then wakes up and makes the connection. Not ideal and if you find an automatic way id be happy to hear about it 😊

Regards

The standard Windows XP BT software does not support all profiles either (only "Human Interface" - keyboard and mouse - I think), so normally you have to install the drivers supplied with the BT device to et full functionality. They are normally Widcom based, and that works fine. 3-Com do their own version, but again that is OK too.

One other thing is that the ports might not setup in the device manager correctly.

Oh, and don't worry, this is a comon issue, and we get a lot of support calls on it.

Yep. Finland for a week and a half (baby's Christening - wife is Finnish), one day back in the UK, then went to Nice and Cannes for the 3GSM Congress show, to launch the X2. So, quite busy. Oh, and finally met up with Ewan and Rafe (from AAS), which was good, although Ewan in the kilt was a sight I do not wish to repeat - Ewan - please don't ban me!! 😊

😊 I know what you mean - I met Ewan a few times last year - definitely a *memorable* sight 😊
