Nokia 6620 Hangs - Bluetooth

I'm having problems with my Nokia 6620 and Motorola HS850 bluetooth headset. When I turn off the headset (close the boom), occasionally the phone loses the bluetooth connection (the icon disappears). The real problem is that the backlight won't turn off, thus draining the batteries. I can't power down, b/c it just hangs. So, I have to take out the battery, put it back in, and then turn it back on.

This type of problem seems to happen most often when I close the boom soon after ending a call. In fact, I can replicate the problem often by just opening the boom (the phone gives a message that the bluetooth device is connected) and then quickly closing the boom. The phone gives the message that the bluetooth device is disconnected, but the icon disappears and the backlight stays on.

I asked ATTWS to send me a new phone, but the problem is still happening. Any ideas?????

THanks!

I can duplicate the problem you are experiencing, exactly. Nokia 6620, Motorola HS850, bluetooth shuts off, backlight stays on.

I can duplicate this on two headsets and two phones.

Did you ever resolve this?

I've been told to get it flashed with newer firmware. Mine is 2.14...and i know that 3.14 doesn't work, but the newest one supposedly fixes it. Nokia said to send it back under warranty to their FL repair center. But I don't want to be w/o a phone for 2 weeks. There's a guy in TX who will do turnaround in a day, and cost is $10 plus shipping both ways.

The key to avoid the problem is to wait several seconds after a call to close the boom...and don't open & close the boom right away. Essentially, if there's a message that's been popped on the screen and you close the boom, you seem to get this condition. I'll probably get it fixed soon.

What's the guy in Texas' info? Also, when you send your phone in for the firmware update to either the service center or this guy, do you lose all your data and settings? Also, Nokia told me the latest firmware is the 3.14. What do you think is the latest firmware and what is your source?

Thanks. 😊
