Sonera 7650-applications

Hi,

This might or might not have been on the forum already but here goes:

Sonera (a Finnish mobile-operator) has made 2 applications specifically for the 7650 available. The applications are Uutiset (=news) and Postikortti (=post-card).

Uutiset fetches the local weather and major news-head-lines. You can also view head-lines / section (domestic / foreign / sports ....). The application, which works via GPRS then let's You drill down into the actiual stories. The news are edited by a major Finnish news-provider.

IMHO All in all the application delivers a surprisingly smooth user-experience and is consistent with Sonera's newly announced strategy to focus on services and not technologies (As 3G seems to be a bit late, they decided to do slimmed-down 3G-type services in our GPRS network)(253 kB installed)

The second application is an application which let's You choose a picture from You phone. The picture is then sent as a normal post-card to the address You specify. Cost is 2,5 Eur/card and You can add Your own 400-character greeting-text to the card(198 kB installed)

Both applications are Finnish-only and only for Sonera's customers (sorry)

Probably not very high as it's substantially more expensive than GPRS MMS, but it's a great argument in the store for MMS-phones, cause it now matters less if Your mates don't have MMS-reception

let me get this straight - you can send a picture and text and get it made it made into a real physical postcard??

if that's correct then that's super cool and we need it in the UK NOW so i can send smutty postcards to all my friends - and maybe a holiday snap or two as well.

Yup, You've gotten it right..

I'm not sure when You'll get it in th UK, but I believe they'll get it in at least Sweden fairly soon (Sonera and Telia are about to merge)

bw, S

Yes i have try it too, but when i got my phonebill there was a little surprise, becouse the news was updated automatic every 15 minutes..

Still its very useful tool!
