Problems converting Videos with Multimedia Pro?

9 replies · 4,558 views · Started 25 October 2002

I've just spent the best part of 1 week whilst on Holiday converting videos 39+ for my 9210i.

I forgot to take my USB connector for the MMC or the Serial lead.

As I converted the videos, most of them with the largest screen size and quality about 10. FPS about 12 -7.5 some 15, to improve the size of the video.

I watched them after the conversion they played perfectly in the MM Pro. 😃 😃

Now i've just transferred them all to a MMC and they are totally CRAP, the images move really slow, and i'm totally F**ked off, well really F**ked OFF! 😞 😞

Why don't Nokia show what the actual video will look like when played in 9210i in the Multimedia Pro convertor?

If anyone can offer advice on what are the best settings for Quality/ FPS with the largest screen size, this would be very much appreciated.

Is it best to have the Normal settings for FPS/Quality and just change the Screen Size?

Does the FPS vary for each video?

I don't mind having the FPS/ Quality of the Normal mode but with the largest screen size!

Now I don't even feel like converting anymore video's, its totally pissed me off!

Also when I convert them in MM Pro, I get the message; video conversion may cause continous playback? What's this mean?

Check this old page of mine: http://nokia.warlocks.be/NokiaNimSettings.htm

The best possible settings are on it.
The best fps is 10 combined with a slightly smaller screen.

Thanks for the info on your site,

I'm converting videoclips (showing F1 Grandprix) that are 15mb - 40mb in size. I've tried the settings that you used for the Metallica - Nothing else matters - I got a 5mb conversion from a 12mb Movie clip, in the normal mode settings its only 1mb.

So now i've adjusted the Quality -- 10
FPS -- 10 & 7.5
Size -- 248x188

With FPS 7.5 I got a 2.3mb nim size
and with FPS 10 I got 1.95mb nim size.

I converted the same clip with the following settings:

Image size; 256x192, FPS 10, Quality 11
Image size; 256x192, FPS 15, Quality 11
Image size; 256x192, FPS 25, Quality 11
Image size; 256x192, FPS 6, Quality 11
Image size; 256x192, FPS 7.5, Quality 11

And the movie quality speed was very slow on all of them, wiith the pictures moving very slow!

When I get my USB connector later I will transfer them over to MMC and see what they look like on 9210i.

I will update you on my progress.

Or do have any further conversion rate advice for large file ( F1 Grand Prix's with fast moving cars) about 35- 40mb in size?

Don't go below quality 7. It's the standard quality.
Use 5 or so.
Try 10fps, this is good for fast moving vids.
you'll have to decrease the screen size until multimediaplayer pro doesn't complain anymore about the nokia will be enabe to play them.
About 124*84 or something (this get's doubled to 248*168).
Try to get the most out of it.
This should give you very watchable vids.
The only thing affecting the file size is the quality, 5 is what I use for good quality and small filesize.

The clips are offline because I needed the storage.

I've just converted the same clips but to the following rate:

Image size; 124x92, FPS 7.5, Quality 6 & 5, Size 5mb & 6.3mb

There was no message saying that it may create continous playback on 9210.

The message only appeared when I increased the FPS to 10, and kept everything else the same.

So I think they might work OK, but I'II transfer them over to MMC later tonight to check.

Thanks again for the advice.

Well a little smaller screen should do it to get the 10 fps. It all depends what you are going for of course 😊
I usualy get something about 112*x.
I don't get bothered with the smaller screen because of the great quality. 😊

Good luck

SENSATIONAL, just tried out the clips and they work perfectly, the best setting to have when converting:

Screen size: 124x92, Quality: 6, FPS; 7.5.

Thanks very much for the advice! 😉 😉 😉 😉

Was glad to help 😊 I like the nims better then rm files.
But it's a pitty most persons don't go trough the trouble of trying the pro convertor 😊 Quality 7 is just to crispy.
You should check out my Braveheart clip on www.n9210.co.uk , quality 3 😊 Very very nice 😉

Yeah I checked that clips out and it looks OK.

I've just uploaded 15 Sensational 2002 season F1 GrandPrix nim clips onto the m9210 website, so you to can view the clips i've converted at your own pleasure.

These clips are truly stunning with fast moving F1 cars flying around on the F1 Circuits.
