Windows XP does not recognize my SX1

I have Win XP Pro (SP2) installed on my PC. When I try to connect the phone by the USB port windows loads 6 unknown devices but does not recognize the phone. I have updated the Motherboard and USB drivers but it is no good. I read on another forum that sb has solved the problem by simply removing USB root hubs from the control panel/device manager (for another device). I did the same it found SX1 as new device, loaded some files but it did not appear again on device manager. I tried it several times after the first time but it also locks up the phone so that I have to remove the battery to restart the phone but keeps saying "unknown device". mRouter and Data Suit says no phone connected. My flash disk works when plugged to the same USB port. Do you have any idea how I can solve the problem.
