6600 Bluetooth: Using files?

4 replies · 1,919 views · Started 28 February 2005

Hi there,

As you know, when something is sent via bluetooth it is recieved in messages > inbox. However, for example... a friend of mine had sent me a midi file, which I wanted to use as a ringtone. However, I can not set it as a ringtone, nor can I move it outside the 'messages area'. How do I get around this? Another example would be, if I was sent an image, I can not put them in my Gallery section. Final problem, why can't I send items that I have recieved to other people via bluetooth?

Thanks guys.

Open the message. In the player that opens, save it. When it has been saved, you can use, e.g., FExplorer (http://www.gosymbian.com/) to copy the file where every you want. To use sound files as ringtones, put them in c:\Nokia\Sounds\Digital in phone memory or e:\Sounds\Digital on the memory card.

After you've saved and extracted the sound file like this, you can delete the message from the Inbox.

If you want, you can also look for the MIDI file somewhere under c:\system\mail (or e:\system\mail, if you've changed your messaging memory to the memory card), but don't delete anything with FExplorer there, because it will in all likelihood mess up the Messaging app's "bookkeeping".

yes, also "fileman" and "SeleQ" are very useful for manage files.

btw, your attachment is saved in c or e:\system\mail\00001001_S\
and there are many sub-directory, find your attachment there one by one.

To send a midi file you will need to use an app like ProfiExplorer, that comes with ProfiMail (do a Google search). The standard phone gallery (and FExplorer) won't let you send a midi file.

There is also a program called Forward, which will give you a list of all the files you have recieved via your inbox, you can then just select one and copy/send/etc it.
