Hi, still a little confused with what card to buy for the nokia 6630, ie iv been told it takes dv rs mmc cards and also normal mmc cards as long as you have an adaptor !! is this correct ?

Hi, so why does the nokia 6630 if im correct !! have a mmc slot and you have to use a reduced size mmc card, ie dv rs mmc card? still confused but getting the phone to-morrow so will be able to clear this issue up..

It isn't that complicated, really.

There are two kinds of RS-MMC (Reduced Size - MultiMediaCard) cards available:

1. Cards that only support ~3.3 volts (V) operation.

2. Cards that can support both ~1.8V and ~3.3V, or so called dual-voltage (DV) cards.

The 6630 and 6680/6681/6682 only accept cards with support for ~1.8V, because the reader in the phone only supports 1.8V. In other words, older - 3.3V-only - RS-MMC cards won't work.

Dual-voltage cards can also be used in devices that accept only 3.3V cards (such as the 7610, 6670 or 6260).

And, also, "regular" or "full-size" MMC cards are too big for the phone models mentioned (the RS-MMC cards are half the size of these).
