Played with a 3650 !!! :)

Hi all!!

I went on friday to italian biggest IT fair (well... this year it was VERY small confronted to last year 😞) ... "SMAU"

anyway... at nokia stand they had a couple 3650's to show as nokia game prizes. their software release was "CB 11" of 02.10.2002 ... don't know what that means... 😃

first impression: I don't like it. the camera always "open" makes me think I will scratch it soon; the keys... UGH!!! unusable!! impossible to write something!!! 😞

and... I went around "playing" with the "toy" for about an hour 😃 and ended up copying via IR to my 7650 a lot of files from Z:\System\Apps

well... now I have a "Test" application (see screenshot) but it does not work 😞 if someone wants it, to see if he/she can "hack" it to run on a non-test 7650... you're welcome! 😉

also now I have "camcorder", that is Hantro application (BUT it expires on 31.10.2002 😞)

also I have "filebrowse"... that doesn't work either

maybe I didn't copy everything... or I need to "install" apps (how?) any hints? 😉

Have u the NIM player for 3650? test it?[/quote]

See Forum Nokia to find out if it supports NIM.

remember the 3650 has changeable covers unlike the 7650 so scraches arnt really the end. unless the lens is poke thru the fascia and the fascia doesnt cover the lens with see thru plastic?

There are covers for the 7650 too, only one colour. You will have hard time making those apps run on the 7650,unless you have a way of installing them in Z: rom drive.

the only changeable parts are the whole front face and the battery compartment cover.

alas, the poor camera lens cover stays fixed because its on the main body of the phone. so one has to be carefull of scratches and dropping it on its back (ouch!!)

You know these phones are really lethal to themselves cause they're heavy! If they fall they might hurt themselves! 😃 (But thank god nothing happend to my 7650, it fell in the kitchen, garage, and cinema. Phew! It has minor really small scratches. nothing serious 😃)

hey ... maybe somebody with a 7650 can help me out on this.
i m seriously considering getting the 3650. but the size IS a matter. so ... only if it can do the following, i will definitely get it ... otherwise, i will settle for the way kewl 7250 ...
1. a more comprehensive address book that stores xtra info like address, company name, birthdays and anniversaries
2. reminders for birthdays and anniversaries
3. ease of entering and retriving appointments

i will only consider the phone if it can replace my palm. i hate lugging my palm around just to do those few things

if you want to replace your Palm and need a good phone, then i would really recommend the Sony Ericsson P800....since its the closest thing one can get at the moment...but there is gonna be some wait though, so patience will be streched. 7650 and 3650 are great but the p800 gives you something extra.

the 7250 is just an upgrade of the 7210 with a camera and its not a symbian PIM system.

That to me looks like a discription of the XDA 😊 If it fits your needs dont be put off by it running MS, I used to be a Palm fan but would never go back now.

thanx all for the reply ...
actually i dont fully utilise my palm ... i only use it mainly for managing contacts and appointments. so i dont really need a hybrid phone. but right now i dont have a choice coz i find it a hassle to key in appointments into calendars (in phones like the 8310). and i also need it to remind me of birthdays and anniversaries. the only thing about the p800 that puts me off is the flip ... it's just me ... i hate flips. but the stylus is REALLY kewl!!! but it will also be a real put off if the p800 responds as sluggishly as my t68i ... i just cant wait to get rid of this phone. so i'll play it safe and aim for a nokia :fadein:
