Developing Software For Nokia Series 60 Phones

6 replies · 2,928 views · Started 27 October 2002

Hello folks,

Its me again. Hmm.. I have a sudden interest in programming programs for Nokia series 60 phones.

Can someone actually list what would i need to have inorder to set off?

I already had access into the Forum Nokia & also a copy of Series 60 SDK installed.

I would like people who are quiet experienced in programming for series 60 to actually provide some source codes (if possible), or give me some advice etc.

Thanks alot. I really hope that i could develop my own tool. hehe.

😉

I suppose you first have to make a decision - Symbian C++ (relatively big and bloaty applications) or Java and J2ME.

You will be able to use Visual Basic to develop very soon. Company call Appforge had develop tool kit for Visual Basic for Nokia 9200 series and for 7650 will come later.

Is the symbian C++ forum, (just new and raw right now).

You should find a few pointers on getting started, there are a few apps being developed on that forum, promises to help 😃

Your choices for development are as follows:

Series60 (7650/3650) - C++ and J2ME
9210 - (Somebody correct me if I am wrong) - C++, J2ME, OPL, AppForge VB (Commercial).
