Have you changed things in my absence?
Just posted http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=35019 in the S60 news section and it's not coming up on the main site. If the system has changed and I posted that wrong let me know so I can get it right next time.
I can see the news posting from you there 😊
Yes that's how it works, though it will take 15 minutes to show up (as a max, thats the refresh rate from the database).
Currenlty I'm building a new cms, unftunately this means news posting via the forums might have to go. This is because its not possible to support mutliple categories via the forums (or have multple paras on the front page etc. etc.). I'd be interested in opionions on this, as well as any comments on what should be in a new cms, both front end (users) and for admins.
Ah, I'll put it partly down to the fact that I'm using IE at work which is utter shite, and constantly bugs out with ActiveX warnings crashing it.
Ye Gads CMS plans, I've already rewritten the one I'm working on twice lol, damn coming up with new ideas all the time. Best bet is to post up a plan of what you have so far, and maybe an example system on say www.allaboutsymbian.com/thenewtest/bollocks/herewego/index.php (anyone guessing that url needs a medal tbh) then we can have a looksee what you have and suggest amendments?
Would a subscription service for ad-free siteviewing be a ludicrous idea?
Another mad idea would be the possibility of AAS branded tshirts using one of those online Tshirt-shoppy places to make them, that way it doesn't really cost the site much cash. Probs something like the AAS logo in the top left on a tshirt with some kind of snappy subtext.
No subscription for ad free service isn't ludicrous and defintely something to think about. Though the question is then what you put in the ad sapce instead. However a value added subscriber package is a definite possibility.
T-shirts - did use to do some (have run out now), but they didn't sell weel. Though Cafe Press could be used ressurect this on a small scale.
I'm guessing replace the ad at the top with a white block to fit in with the site background and just don't render google ads for the subscribers.

I bought one of those t-shirts like a year or two ago, but never received one... Not a big deal though, I only did it to support the site.
I lost my AAS one, still got the YS one somewhere though 😊
