How Do You Chat Instantly On Your Communicator
I just read you review of both messengers. Two months ago I purchased IM+ and recently I stumbled on Agile Messenger. I was really pleased with IM+ until I discovered Agile Messenger. Agile, as you noted in your review is definitely the better messenger.
My question is regarding the type of connection used by both programs. I use the messenger programs to connect to MSN Messenger. When I log onto MSN using Agile, my contacts see me "on-line" but Agile Messenger shows me as Online (mobile). Further my contacts (people who are at home that see me on MSN) are warned that I could incur extra charges if they send me a message because I am "on-line" using a mobile device. Now if I log onto MSN using IM+, it shows me just being "on-line" as if I were on-line at my desktop PC. My contacts are unaware that I am on a mobile device. Further, they are not warned about sending me messages or extra charges.
Why did these two messengers use different methods of logging on? Is one method better than the other? Are there extra charges when one uses Agile as apposed to IM+?
Well, MSN now have a mobile feature where you can send messages though MSN to a mobile phone in an SMS format, so you are always online. Using Aglie some people will get this message (I think it depends on which version of MSN they are using on their PC), you will not be charged for any of the messages, it's just simply informing the other user that you are logged in on a mobile/pda device and not at a PC. Personally I think this is a good feature, it informs the person that you aren't using a full size keyboard so it's going to take you longer than usual to reply (Well that's the way I see it anyway)....I'm not sure why IM+ doesn't show you on a mobile device.
"I'm reliably informed it's the perfect solution when you are too drunk to use the 9500 keyboard (Ahem Rafe)." 😉
We show you as mobile so people understand you may be slow at typing a response. The message saying you may incur extra charges is just a default MSN message that does not apply to Agile Messenger.
