I've got my new 9500, 1 G MMC card, Covertec case and bluetooth HS-4W headset. Now I'm just missing the one thing I bought the Nokia for, the promised Blackberry client software.
Anybody have any news for me? Does anyone from Nokia read this forum? Get with the promises you made.......or this thing will be ebay fodder
So Mr RIM, where's my blackberry
This press release says: "Symbian OS-based BlackBerry connectivity expected on Nokia 9500 Communicator during Q1 2005": http://press.nokia.com/PR/200409/959823_5.html
Q1 2005 is not over yet, and "expected" means that it is an estimate (made last September), and estimates may change.
It may also be that it won't be a user-installable application (it could be, of course) available for anyone, but that you'd have to buy a special version of the phone with the BlackBerry sw.
It may also be that it won't be offered in all markets/regions or by all operators/carriers.
The only things that's sure: It isn't available yet.
It's sure that Vodafone (UK) aren't expecting it soon. I bought the 9500 for BB connectivity too and spoke to their technical helpdesk a few weeks ago and they said that RIM and Nokia where in legal disputes over the licence agreement and they haven't got a date when BB connectivity will be avialable.
As for models/deployment etc I hope it follows the SE P910 solution - where it can be added to the phone and users can connect to BB world or corporate systems (I suppose this still may be carrieer dependent though?
Here's hoping
