Hiya all,
Well, I've had the 6630 a good few days not and in general I'm very happy with it.
The biggest problem I've had is syncing contacts etc on and off it which is proving nigh on impossible having a Mac. Anyway - my latest thinking has included getting the Mac and the phone to both sync with a SyncML server. Nice in theory - iSync is SyncML based and the phone comes with it as stantard. But ...
I tried syncing the phone with Orange Sync but it connects and continually tells me I've got the wrong username and password. Well I've installed the Orange PC application and that syncs to their servers fine. So it seems that their servers just reject the phones connection straight out as its "not a supported handset". The sync app is preinstalled on the phone and Orange has included all the settings to sync with their server (minus username and password) .... but yet they don't support it! Nice!
Next line of thinking after being fobbed off by Orange a few times was to sync with another server instead. Queue Google and I came up with Mobical.net. It's free, supports everything I need and includes all the settings for my phone. Fantastic ... until I try syncing. It connects, logs in and times out after 108 contacts (assuming there isnt a connection failure etc - but thats prolly Orange's fault).
To be fair even if I could get it going iSync wont connect to a custom SyncML server and I cant find a client on the Mac to sync Address Book and iCal etc to a server anyway.
Arrgghghgh! Any ideas? lol

Hi All --
I've got exactly the same problem as James. Even after following the manual
instructions on the web site (for 6600) my 6630 won't work. The manual
instructions say that your username is your phone number: I tried
+447973123456, 447973123456 and 07973123456 (obviously with my
real number not 123456) as well as my Orange email username.
Isn't it aggravating: it's so close but yet so far!
Anybody have any luck with this?
Jonathan.
(ps having similar problems sending email: just says web: server not found
and that's the end of it. Surely Orange did TRY this before printing the books
and buying the phones?!! The configuration screens just don't match the
instructions. Anybody make this work either?)

Nokia and Apple are global companies. The 6630 is supported in Europe, so do you think Apple supports the 6630 in Europe as well?
There is considerable comment about the lack of MacOS support and iSync on the 6630 on the Apple.com discussion forums, so watch on there for the latest news on whats happening in 10.4.1, and 10.4.2 (I bleedin hope)
I think the 6630 is a rare phone in the US of A, hence its lack of drivers in Tiger

Yeah I think the fact that its not used much in the USA may well be part of the issue though with a flagship Apple Store in London you would of thought they would listen more to people over here.
As far as I know there is still no support for the 6630 in 10.4.1 though that update seemed to address more critical issues. Hopefully 10.4.2 should sort it out....when it does I will get Tiger until then there is no real reason for me to spend the cash.
There is a laborious workaround using vcal import and vcard import but to be honest its a bit of a palava.
My iBook wont even see the memory card as a removable drive which would make things easier......considering Nokia use Macs all the time in there advertising its pretty poor show.
