Hi,
I'm thinking of moving to Symbian (9300) from a Windows Smartphone, mainly because of the keyboard.
Can anyone tell me exactly what fields from Outlook Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Notes get synced across to the phone?
I am particularly interested to know whether the Note field on a Contact or a Calendar Appointment will be sync'ed.
Also, I heard that the Outlook Notes folder doesn't get sync'ed at all. Are there any third party solutions to get around this?
Thanks

Well, forget about the Notes. They are not synchronised.
When you have a JPG file in a Task, it also will not be transfered. Tasks are synchronised however.
Birthdays do well, and all the other things from the Calendar seem to sync well.
So, over all it is acceptable. I never checked Contacts, field by field. Maybe somebodey else has an answer to that.
I have an off topic question however: If the Nokia 9300 was available in Windows Mobile 2005 version, would you take that one in stead of the Symbian? And why?
Can I conclude that you Like MS but that you miss the right hardware?

I like Activesync. You just plug the phone in and it sync everything automatically. And the best thing is it carries on syncing every change you make in either device in real time so when you have to go to a meeting or a visit a custom you can just get up and go and you alway have upto date information with you.
I don't really like MS particularly but I have to use Windows for work so I need a device that integrates well with Windows.
The software on the MS smartphone is pretty good but not perfect by any means. The main things I want are a keyboard for easier data entry and while still keeping the overall size as small as possible.
Nokia PC Suite can do that too. Automatically sync when ever you connect (immediately, or at set intervals while connected), or when you choose to do so manually. And with Bluetooth all you need to do is to bring the phone within a few meters of your PC. Changes in either the phone or in Outlook are synchronized in both directions.
A bit laborious way to see what's synchronized, exactly, is to create a contact record and a calendar entry with all the fields/details filled and then see where they end up (do it in Outlook to see what goes where in the phone, and do it on the phone to see where stuff goes in Outlook).
