I had run the SettingsWizard and tried sending and recieving emails on my 9300 just after getting it (a week ago) and it worked fine.
But when I've tried in the last few days I'm having a problem retrieving emails. It starts to connect (using 'O2 Internet' connection) but after a few seconds it stops with the message 'problem disconnecting'.
When I try connecting using 'O2 WAP GPRS' it starts to connect but never seems to get anywhere so I have to cancel it.
I can still send email ok (using 'O2 internet'😉 and I can surf the web ok as well, I just can't recieve email.
Like I said, it WAS working ok - any idea how to fix it?
Thanks,
Andy.
I assume you've tried a battery-out reset and looked through your settings? Could be a server problem with your e-mail provider. Can you receive mail using a computer/from the web?
No, I haven't done a reset. I'd be wary of doing it with everything else working. Is it safe to do? Not sure how it's done either.
As for my settings, I haven't changed them since it was working apart from trying selecting the other connection method (O2 WAP GPRS).
The email is working fine from my PC.
Sorry, I meant a battery-out reboot (not reset). Just take the battery out and put it in again to reboot the PDA. It's perfectly save, you won't loose any data. If that doesn't help, check your settings (Messaging - Menu - Account settings).
Just tried removing the battery...
Same thing happened again i.e. 'Problem disconnecting'.
I've looked at the settings and they seem fine as far as I can tell but as I said before, those settings have worked before now.
Actually, that reminds me, when I searched for an answer on the web (without success) I came across a mention of making sure the 'leave copy of the emails on the server' was set. This isn't related to my problem but I've not seen this option on the 9300 which makes me think maybe there are settings I've not come across. Can you point me to where this setting can be found on the phone?
Thanks.
Turns out I HAD changed a setting but in my defense, it didn't seem to be a setting that would cause problems...
Anyway, for anyone else getting this problem, go to the email accounts settings, select the 'Retrieve' tab and make sure 'Sync e-mails in inbox' is set to something other than 'none'.
I'd changed it thinking it meant something else.
Still curious to know where that 'leave copy of email on server' setting is though.
Thanks.
I have exactly the same problem with my N9300. Mail stopped coming in one day with no apparent reason and the message was also "Problems disconnecting".
I installed ProfiMail for a test and that works like a charm. It may have to do with the e-mail settings on the account as other accounts on the same mail server don't have that problem. One workaround I tried before was to delet all messages off the server, and even w/o changes settings the account started to work again.
Very strange. Are there logfiles that I could look at to debug?
