ProfiMail & G-Mail on 6600 - can't get it working! Please help me....

Hello 😊

I have a problem here and i truly hope someone can help me.

I use a Nokia 6600, FW version 4.09.1 (26-02-04) and a full version of ProfiMail (symbianware) 2.17 (latest version). I desperately try to get it to work with G-Mail.

I have all the settings for the G-Mail account 100% correct.

My GPRS access point is internet-enabled (it is a IAP so to speak).

GPRS of course is available on my pre-paid account 😊

What i get when trying to connect to my G-Mail account is a "Failed to connect" error, without explanation WHY it failed. I have recently tried the same G-Mail settings on my boyfriend's phone, which is a 6260 (also Symbian 7) but runs on a different network (me D-TAC, he AIS). It worked!

So today i got myself a AIS SIM-card, and tried in my 6600 - does NOT work!!!!

Now i'm on the same network, using same GPRS settings, using same G-Mail settings, and - no go. Can only be the phone, no? Everything else (Opera, NetFront, Agile Messenger, Wireless IRC) works fine with both networks and the respective IAP's (each network has a WAP access point, one for Internet and one for MMS). Just the %$#@! G-Mail won't work (and ProfiMail itself works fine too, with another account which doesn't require SSL).

What can i do to get this to work?

Is it known that the 6600 (particular mine FW version) has issues with SSL? It is NOT supported in the original "E-Mail" application, but i tought that's what ProfiMail is for, to fill that gap.

Has anyone got it working, if so, how?

Any input is HIGHLY appreciated.... i don't want to have my 500 Baht for the new SIM totally wasted (since this G-Mail issue was my sole reason for buying it!)

With kind regards.....

your Thanh

Excuse me for stupid questions, but canyou just access G-mail via a browser? I know G-mail works via Opera if you use this page:

http://www.theplaceforitall.com/gmail-lite/

But this was maybe not what you wanted?

Hello 😊

Thank you for reply! But indeed, that is not what i want. I did try via Opera, and accessinmg G-Mail directly fails because of the SSL issue (the phone itself does not support SSL at all, it seems, back then i tought that was the network's fault but on the other network it's the same) and, if using a html proxy, it DOES work via browser - but takes AGES. And i pay GPRS by airtime.

However yesterday i even tested with my boyfriend's SIM in my phone, all settings in both phones 100% identical - 6600 no go, where on the 6260 it works fine. Damn SSL!

Has ANYone got it to work on a 6600? Which firmwaree version is that? I might need to upgrade my firmware.

Kind regards.....
