Is Remote Debugging possible in 7650?

Hi all...

I would like to know how I can remotely debug and step through my 7650 Application ,Specilaly Bluetooth apps (in the hardware, not in the Emulator). I have read in the SDK Help that the GNU debuggger allows that , but it is not clear.
Suppose I have installed an Application in the 7650, now how I can connect the 7650 with my PC by GNU debugger, how I download the stub object and how do I carry on the debugging ?

Another question, Is there any Serial Connection from my 7650 using any serial cable? There are 3 small PINS at the socket where I insert the charger line, but the Charger line does not connect to this pins.....I wonder why this pins are provided in the 7650? is it for attaching a Serial Line?

Nimo

To answer your second question, the pins are there for the desktop charger! There is no serial cable connection possible from the outiside of the phone!

Dear MaleBuffy

Thanx.............what about the first question? I am doing my MSc Thesis on Series 60 BT apps......and I really need to know this remote debugging possibilities..........

Nimo

Nimo, in theory, I would have thought remote debugging possible over BlueTooth. In reality, however and to my knowledge, I don't think there are currently tools available for this; at least not to the general public.

If you have the time, perhaps you may want to direct your MSc towards looking at what it would take to create remote debugging client / server software in this case? Just a suggestion!

Another suggestion; have you tried contacting Symbian or Nokia directly about this? Large companies can often be helpful to students, if you get in touch with the right people.

Good Luck 😉
