Hello forum dwellers,
I'm considering the purchase of a P910 to replace my aging cell phone and Visor. Unfortunately I can't find them in any store around here (Philadelphia area), which limits my ability to try before I buy. So I'd like to pose a question to you folks:
Does the Jot software on the P910 recognize the strokes of the original Graffiti for example, the one-stroke 'K' that looks like a Jesus fish, and the downward-stroke 'I'? This is a real sticking point for me, since I would prefer to avoid the tiny keyboard, and can't stand Graffiti 2.
Thanks in advance for your help.
I also switched from Palm to UIQ and I spent several days looking for Graffiti 1 for my P910. Eventually I found a Russian site with Primetech Jot - fully configurable handwriting recognition software. It took me several days to get the registration code (they only accept rubles, bielorussian rubles and etc). Then I spent a few hours tediously defining all characters (if you want I can send them to you) but now I am all set. Everyting seems to work fine and actually I am very happy with their software.

1. I am interested to know if the program can be used to write non-english characters such as (as I mostly write in Swedish)
2. About payment, how did you do to pay for the program (via Softkey I presume) did you get the impression that it as "safe" to send the money? ... Just a little suspicious about sending money to Russia unfortunately.
3. Is the program stable, can you get the same kind of writing speed as on the palm?
The program however seems vastly better than the alternatives for UIQ

Here are answers to your questions:
1. I am interested to know if the program can be used to write non-English characters such as (as I mostly write in Swedish)
Yes, you can define any Unicode characters (I defined Polish).
2. About payment, how did you do to pay for the program (via Softkey I presume) did you get the impression that it as "safe" to send the money? ... Just a little suspicious about sending money to Russia unfortunately.
Softkey did not allow me to buy this program so I asked Primetech how I can purchase it. After exchanging a few e-mails they sent me the registration code and request for payment when their software is available on Handango.
3. Is the program stable, can you get the same kind of writing speed as on the palm?
[PF] I found two bugs in the program and workarounds for them:
1. Primetech Jot resets your phone if you dont define any extended characters and switches to this mode by accident. I defined some extended characters just to avoid this problem (I am not planning to use them).
2. The viewer.bat command in the training folder does not display all characters. I use Current Samples on the train.bat window instead.
I have no complaints about speed.
My comments afer using the software for a few weeks now:
1. I am surprised how much time it takes to define all Graffiti characters. It has taken me probably up to five hours now and I still have to refine a few characters. If you wish I can send you my definition of characters, just provide me with your email address. Bear in mind that after using TealScript for several years, I have developed my own flavor of Graffiti.
2. Beside all this trouble I am very pleased with Primetech Jot. It recognizes 90% of characters when I write fast and 100% when I don't rush. I hope this will improve when I refine a few characters that look too much alike now.
