possible to use nokia 7610 with rogers wireless?

I purchased a 7610 in Bangkok about six months ago. I am now back home (Vancouver, Canada) and am having a terrible time trying to use my phone for mms/mobile internet on the Rogers network. Do I use internet.com or goam.com? A Nokia rep in the states said I need to put the ip addy from rogers in the proxy server address field instead of the primary server name field. Would it make a difference if I got a 'data service plan' or a 'navigate mobile internet plan'. Are there differences between nokia 7610 models (region specifics) that would stop me from using the web browser in Canada?

I knew it would be annoying to get it working, but this is getting out of hand...

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

If you purchased the phone in Bankok, it is a triband phone that supports 900, 1800 and 1900MHz.

North America has support for 850 and 1900MHz. That means the phone in North America will only work on 1900MHz networks, but not 850.

A North American model will support 850/1800/1900 (and outside North America will only work when 1800MHz is available, but not when only 900 is).

As to the network settings, you need Rogers' "MMS Access Point", "WAP Access Point" and "Internet Access Point" settings. Settings for, e.g., the 6620 will work with a 7610.

In the "Messaging" app use the "MMS Access Point" for multimedia message settings and the "Internet Access Point" for email.

In the browser use the "WAP Access Point" for WAP services and "Internet Access Point" for full web access.

What the plan details for Rogers are I don't know, but the key thing to ask for is full GPRS Internet access vs. WAP-only.

You want the full Internet access for just that [full Internet access]. 😉

I must be retarded...I can't figure it out...
Has anyone gone through this with the same phone or a nokia that runs Symbian 60 with rogers Canada?

This was a thougher nut to crack, but I found your settings. So read the things I highlighted for you 😉

Rogers Media settings

(for MMS/PICmessaging)

http://www.shoprogers.com/store/wir...remessaging.asp

apn: media.com

username: media

password: mda01

mms.gprs.rogers.com

ip 172.025.00.107

Rogers internet.com settings

(to use phone as modem. Or is needed for HTML phones, or wap 2.0 phones at this current time.

requires access to a Data access plan

apn: internet.com

username: wapuser1

password: wap

ip: same as goam, 208.200.067.150

Appreciate the help...I already had all of the settings, just can't seem to get everything to jive.

And you do have the DATA plan activated (APN internet.com)? If you have the other plan, APN is goam.com

It might be best to ask for a config in an AT&T store / Nokia store? Because this is really a strange problem.

I hope you guys have sorted this out because I am currently having this problem with a Nokia 7610. They Rogers guy was very helpful but couldn't figure it out....Please let me know if there are any clues to this mystery.....
