Mic has stopped working

9 replies · 2,718 views · Started 18 March 2005

Hi

I have had the sendo X for about 2 months, and all was well, until today, the microphone seems to have stopped working.

It is fuzzy and very faint. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Simon

Hey there Simon! Welcome to the club!

You have to choices:

Void your warranty and get technically inclined to dissasemble and restore the proper function.

OR

Send it to sendo and wait several weeks for the roundtrip delivery.

now how do you feel about not having a phone at this point?

.

No, sadly it wasn't. A constructive comment would have explained that microphone unit just sits on top of the main circuit board, and makes electrical contact only because it is pushed up against it. In time this contact seems to degrade, but a small amount of cleaning will restore it to good as (or better than) new.

In the thread 'How 2 disassemble/dismantle the Sendo X', messus gives a very detailed, illustrated description of how to solve this problem. You will need a number 6 Torx screwdriver - not that common, but not that hard to find if you want to - but it isn't a difficult job, and doesn't require any electrical knowledge.

Good luck, if you decide to go ahead.

I do agree with blahblahbber. It's really that simple, start messing with your phone (AND LOSE WARRANTY) or send it back. At this point i still believe (well, hope actually) that Sendo will send me a decent working handset back. It has been 2 weeks untill now and i'll keep you posted.

Thanks

I may just give the surgery a try, next time it happens, 'cause it seems to have fixed itself 😕

Well seems like the newer X version have a self-repair function 😮

@blahblahbber: Why don't you just leave the X forums here if you can't add anything helpfull anyway.
