U.S. Firmware Upgrades

With Nokia USA announcing that the 9500 will be arriving soon, I contacted Nokia to ask them when firmware upgrades in this part of the world would be available - the news wasn't good. :banghead: This was their reply.

[FONT=Arial][INDENT]Thank you for e-mailing Nokia's Contact Center.

We appreciate you contacting us to inquire on how you can upgrade the software of your foreign Nokia 9500 phone.

The software that we use on our Nokia phones in the United States is slightly different than the software used in other countries. The menu structure may not be the same and the language options may be different. It is likely that the phone would need to be returned to the original point of purchase for firmware upgrade.

As a result, Nokia North American repair facilities and authorized service centers do not perform software upgrades or repair phones that were sold outside of the United States. If the repair center receives a Nokia phone that was sold in another country the phone will be returned back to customer without repair.

If you have any additional questions, please contact us. To ensure proper handling, please continue to use the current subject line.

Thank you for choosing Nokia for your mobile needs.
