The P910i Disaster Vs Nokia 9500's Bliss

i just had to write about my 1week experience.
Recently i traded my friends P910i with my 9500 for a week, he wanted to try the commy & i wanted to try SE's attempt at a communicator.

SE's done a pretty good job for a PDA, but its not a communicator in anyways whatsoever.
The 1st thing i wanted to try out was the Thumboard... I have to tell you guys, this is the worst "KEYBOARD" ever. i just cant get used to using it even after a week. the keys are just toooooooo TINY & its very very tiresome trying to use it.
REMEMBER - even with this keyboard, you still have to use the stylus. i mostly end up removing the stylus & keeping it inbetween my fingers which i TRY & type with the keyboard.
After using the 9500's excellant keyboard, nothing seems as fast & easy to use.

Only 2 things i really liked in the P910i was its ability to schedule email downloads & Vibrator.
-----I have reached a very comfortable zone with my 9500's Profiles that i really did not mind not having the vibrator ON.
----The 9500 already has a few Email Download scheduler software.
------> So i guess both these advantage are out of the window, yet the P910i has it built in....u cant deny that <-------

Now i know y the 9500 has slowed down the processor a bit....TO IMPROVE THE BATTERY LIFE.... in this respect the P910i was really really bad. It dies on me by evening. The 1st day after work i went with some friends to a Pub & LO & BEHOLD by 9PM the Phone was totally DEAD. Even with the 9500's "SLOWNESS", its yet faster or atleast comparable speed to the P910i.

P910i has a slightly better camera, but who cares, if its not a minimum 3MP camera, you wont be using it much anyways.

P910i Memory Stick's are expensive.
P910i has a better screen.. that we have to give to SE.

Even the "Snob Value" appeal of the 9500 is more than the P910i anyday.

All in all, i am just craving for my 9500 now.

The Nokia 9500 is like an addiction, once you get hooked onto it... no amount of help can cure you...in this case..no amount of touch screen, tiny keypad, smaller size can lure you.

Try having MP3s playing in the background on the P910 whilst navigating around the UI/browsing the web. It's a good example of the 9500/9300's being more powerful, because in the P910 the music will stutter/skip, but not in the 9x00.

I've said this before, but the P-series is no match to the commies when it comes to quality of built-in software. You mention that the P910 has scheduled e-mail retrieval by default, but you can only schedule your e-mail fetching for three times a day - which suddenly doesn't make it that useful anymore. Besides, its e-mail client doesn't even have proper HTML support.

And there are many other things the P-series doesn't have built-in, like; task manager, profiles, scientific calculator, screen shot utility, adjusting screen brightness/contrast (P800/P900), backup to memory card, Fax support, a proper file manager etc. But in all fairness it does have voice dialing, which S80 doesn't.

How about the sync issues? Have you tried syncing to Outlook. I've read in many forums that some fields in the contacts and calendar do not sync to the p910i, which is why it would not make me want the p910i.

I must say the 9500 syncs really well, especially contacts. If there are multiple addresses, numbers, and e-mails, the 9500 will sync all properly.

I don't agree 100% with Raven's comment on the 9500 MP3 player - sure, there is no hiss, but if you launch Documents, the Web Browser or even the File Manager the MP3 Player skips a second or two. There is also a skip when you connect to a WLAN network and when the Web Browser is loading a large page (50K +).
