Hello Everyone, i have a small query and i would appreciate the help reciprocated to me.
My dad wants to buy a communicator but he isnt sure as which one to buy he prefers the four models i.e. Nokia 9300, Nokia 9500, Sony Ericsson P910i or the i-mate PDA-2k
I would want someone to tell me as to which phone is better. The phone is going to be used by a business executive. So which model is better
And plz let me know also that what the positive and the negative points in each and every model
Lastly whats the difference between 9300 and 9500 as nokia says 9300 is a smartphone and 9500 is a communicator so whts the difference between them
And lastly someone plz suggest me some wap sites or www sites from where i can download stuff for my nokia 7610 for free i.e. themes, ringtones, movies, softwares, applications.
Thank You in advance
The only real differences between the 9300 and 9500 are that the 9500 is bigger + has a camera and WLAN/Wi-Fi whereas the 9300 is smaller and without camera/WLAN. Software is the same as are all other aspects. They're both really (high-end) smartphones.
get the 9500. the wifi is what really makes it the best to me.
9500, certainly. It is a bit bigger and more expensive but the wireless internet makes it much cheaper to use over time. Also, the keyboard is much better, I tried the 9300 keyboard for some quick typing and got about twice as many typos as with the 9500, although the keys are a bit more difficult to hit than Psion used to be.
I had a 9500 (lost) and now a 9300. As mentioned in an earlier post the only differences are that the 9500 comes with camera and wi-fi. The 9300 without these is smaller and has a different keyboard.
I prefer the 9300 because wi-fi and camera is unimportant to me, however being able to put it in my pocket is important.
With regards to the keyboard I also prefer the 9300 as I find thumb typing is easier ie. when standing or on the move. The 9500's keyboard IMO is better when you have a desk to lay it flat. One thing i also hated on the 9500 was the rocker button on the phone side, it is so useless and frustrating.
The smaller pysical screen size of the 9300 is so minimul that it's hardly noticeable, the resolution of 9500/9300 is identical.
I've also had a 910i which was a great phone but I found to use it as a heavy duty PDA a pain. The flip keyboard is very difficult to get any use, it's other input method is handwriting recognition which I have always hated.
To summarise if it's PDA u need go for 9300/9500
If wi-fi and camera are not important go for 9300
If it's a phone with some PDA functions wanted go for 910
Go for the 9500 instead of the 9300 - bigger keyboard, WiFi, camera, bigger screen. I find the internal screen of the 9500 the best ever on any phone, miles better than my previous P900 and XDA2.
The reason why I gave up the XDA2 was the horrible battery life and difficulty in typing even 3 lines of notes - you can hook up an external IR or BT keyboard, but that is an extra burden on your pocket as well as the PocketPC's battery.
I have read with great interest the above comments and agree with all of them. I have gone throught he same analysis and selected the Nokia 9500. For me, WiFi is important to reduce GPRS costs. The only negative on the 9500 is the camera. Utterly useless by today's standards, so just ignore this feature except for emercency situations. The 9300 would in my opinion be the perfect solution if it offered WiFi. Lovely ergonomics.
One feature I miss in the 9500 and 9300 is a vibrating alarm but I have solved this now by adding the Jabra BT800 bluetooth headset. Perfect.
SonyEricsson 910 or Treo 650 - these have their own advantages but I am glad that I decided against them. With the 9500 I can read and write messages without reading glasses (I am over 50) - a most important aspect (strange that all new Nokia phones 6630 etc. offer only very tiny fonts!). I guess you have to decide: If you want to read more, the SE or Treo may be better because of the touch-screen. If you want to write more, than the Nokia keypad is much better.
If have never found an XDA IIs yet, the specs and reviews are promising but in the end I decided to go with a system that has lots of support - and forums like this.
Good luck!
