LOL, I see what you mean, the title could seem very strange if you didn't know about the program.
Bemused is a program on your 7650 which controls winamp (via bluetooth)
on your computer. Great app!!
Cant help about that error but i think Ashley can help. He visits this forum frequently i think.
His home page, where you can look for help or ask him.

SWEET Bemused is amazing! Its like a remote for my PC!
Yea, I agree with you completely! One of best apps for 7650 I think.
Absolutely love it (not to mention its skinning ability 😃 )
And best of all its free... wishing other apps more like it.
Could people please give a bit more detail about the errors that they're experiencing?
For those of you who have problems with the phone stuck always saying "Refreshing list", do you have any error messages appearing on the server, or nothing at all? Does anyone see the phone stuck always saying "Connecting", or the connection failing with an error?
willumpie - your problem is almost certainly caused by using Bemused on the same virtual serial port as PC Suite. If possible, can you change the settings of your Bluetooth software to create a new serial port, and change the Bemused server to use that port?
Thanks.
One bug I have is that the screen of Bemused doesn't draw properly on the phone when you switch between tasks while it's running, or if the screen saver becomes active and you try to come out of it. Anyone else find this?
Merlin - yep, this is unfortunately a known bug, it's on the list to be fixed (eventually).
Also... I've just found and fixed the bug which caused Bemused not to work when using the same COM port as PC Suite. This will be in the next release, and should help with some of the problems people have been experiencing.
huh...
i want bt adapter
hope my sister will buy me one
Thanks Mental Blank for the info 😊
I get the same problems that the others listed in the thread.
I have an MSI USB bluetooth 'key' with the latest version of the Widcomm BT stack...
First I tried a COM10, a port well away from PCSuite and any COM ports that the BT Neighbourhood had mapped. The PC connected with the phone but when you tried to refresh the list you got nothing - it endlessly refreshed... Winamp didn't start either. The debug window would show:[code:1]...
Read unknown command ""
Read unknown command ""
Read unknown command ""
Read unknown command ""
Read unknown command ""
...[/code:1]and nothing else.
Then I tried COM4, a port that is mapped in My Bluetooth places. I had a little more success with this. The PC would connect with the phone, this time Winamp would start and in the debug window I'd get:[code:1]Read unknown command "L"
Read unknown command "IST"
Read unknown command ""
Read unknown command ""
Read unknown command ""
...[/code:1]
I have version 3.12 of the firmware on the handset, if that makes a difference. I wonder, the other people who are having problems, what are your versions of the 7650's firmware?
I'm going to dig around with BtServerSpyLite when I get home, would you like me to send you my connection captures? It might help you figure out what's going on...
Keep up the great work, once the bugs are ironed out this is gonna be a great app!
Thanks,
paul
Forgot to mention, I had PCSuite disabled (ie, I'd deselected all the bluetooth COM ports in mRouter) when I tried my experiments...
Cheers again,
paul
AllNewPauly, I'm also using the MSI USB bluetooth 'key' and I don't have a problem connecting, so your problem is nothing to do with the bluetooth key hardware. However, you said you're using v3.12 of the firmware, and I'm on 3.16. Either that's the problem, or maybe one of the settings in the software for the bluetooth key is different.
When I first got the key, I installed it on two different machines (both W2k). One machine successfully allowed me to use PCSuite and one wouldn't connect. I decided to copy the registry key of the working one to the other and they both then worked. Why they were different, I don't know, but perhaps a registry entry change is all you need. Just a suggetion. 😉
Perhaps.
I don't like this bluetooth neighbourhood thing at all. The interface is pretty terrible. There's too many different ways of doing the same thing. Whats the difference between a 'local serial service' and 'client application?' Both list a virtual COM port, one is COM4 and the other is COM6. Whats the difference!!
When will Microsoft's 'offical' bluetooth stack be out?
I dunno if it is firmware, bluetooth on the phone works, that much is evident - the phone connects to the computer - but its as if no data get sent between bemused on the desktop and bemused on the phone. 😞
We'll see what happens when the others who are having problems reply with their phones firmware revision.
paul
i've got 3.12 and i have no problems with bemused.
i've uninstalled pc suite cause it's b****x, dont' know if that makes any difference?
Well, I've got home, tried it again on COM6 - done everything the same as before - and now it works. So dunno what all that was about.
I'm pushing the blame on the Widcomms bt stack, not Ashley's program 😉
I hope it still works tomorrow!
Thanks for listening,
paul
Last update from me on this subject...
I rebooted and now it doesn't work again. ON ANY PORT. It's gone back to its L...IST ways.
Ho hum.
paul
well, i tried all com ports, but everytime have the same l...ist thing
it looks like the program wants a 3 caracter command in stead of 4
mail willum
Sorry, I've not had time to update over the weekend...
I've got a work around - Un select all the ports in mRouter and reboot you can connect everytime on port 6 (at least on my phone/pc combo). This isn't too much of a problem since I only sync the phone with Outlook once in a while...
Thanks again for a great little app.
paul
Well, I got it working once just after I first got bluetooth working with my TDK USB adapter.
Then, it didn't work.
Having spent 2 - 3 hours trying to get it to work, I got it to work again!
Okay, this is what I did:
Disabled all bluetooth com ports in PC Suite/Mrouter (obviously)
Made a 'client applications' Bluetooth serial port, with auth and encryp. ticked, on COM4
Made a 'Local Services' Bluetooth serial port, with all boxes ticked (authoriz, authent, encryp, startup) on COM8
Then, didn't try to force any connections, or load any serial connection, I simply loaded bemused server on the PC, set to COM4, and loaded bemused on the phone.
Worked fine for me, I have a feeling encryption is necessary.. :-?
I've just released Bemused version 1.2, which fixes the problems that many of you were experiencing. In particular, there are new options which should help those with very large music collections, and the server can now be run on the same port as PC Suite.
So those of you who were seeing lots of "Read unknown command" messages should have your problems fixed.
Those of you who were seeing the problem where the app on the phone would just say "Refreshing list", which would never actually complete, should try removing any additional serial ports you added in your Bluetooth settings (so you just have the one port, which both PC Suite and the Bemused server should be set to use).
There are also several other bug fixes and improvements. Many thanks to David Carson and Jyri Kuparinen for their additions, and thanks to Christoph Kainzner for the Bluetooth adapter!
Great ! thanks.
