keeping gdr fonts on MMC

I am trying to copy the gdr font to /system/fonts in MMC card on 6260 phone, but the files in this folder are not recognised as symbian fonts and not loaded during start up by symbian font server. Does any one know if 6260 supports this? I had seen lot of articles regarding adding fonts to /system/fonts folder. Most of them say you can add it to any drive. I am trying it in MMC because if my gdr file is corrupted then I can remove it from mmc easily.

I tried it but it didn't work either.
I heard that some people said it works on 6260 but to me it doesn't.
I'm pretty sure that the fonts are good because it is working on my n-gage

I have installed the fonts to the c: drive and it works fine.

Don't think it works with the MMC.

If you are worried about corrupted grd files use font remover.

Hi friends,
I have found another way by which we can get rid of files we have installed on phone. It seems we can format the phone. I have tried it on nokia 6260 and it works fine.

Following is the procedure for formating:
Turn phone off, press and hold the green (talk) key on the left + number 3 on the keypad + the * key and then turn the phone back on.

Warning: formatting the internal drive results in ALL DATA being removed. Use this only when you experience serious problems with your device.

Regards,
Anup

Another way to remove fonts is:
- rename the folder \system\fonts to something else.. You can use FExplorer.
- reboot the phone.
- Now delete the font file you wanted to delete and rename back the folder to \system\fonts.

I have tried this and it works gr8.

BTW one thing I am curious to know is which phone are you using and how did you got font file on MMC to be recognised on phone. I tried it on Nokia 6260 and it didn't work 😞
