Spoke with Sony Ericsson today they confirmed that the P800 would not be released in the UK until "mid Jan 2003". I was told that this is because of UK network issues. I was told that it will start to be released "everywere else" from middle of next month. He said that the warrenty would cover phones brought overseas in the UK but if I did purchase one for use in the UK some features would not work on the UK Network!!!.
I called again and spoke with someone else about 2 hours later and they told me the same sh-peel.
I want to know from you users outside of the UK the second some is offering the P800 for real so here in the UK we dont have to sit around reading everyones emails about them until they come out. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE.

So Sony Ericsson is saying mid-January in UK. Guess in reality those of us who preordered from Mphone or Expansys can forget about seeing these phones until February at the earliest.
Screwed up again SE. Must have some ex weathermen doing the delivery date predictions in their marketing department.
There's no way i'm waiting until Mid-January. The contract on my 7650 runs out in 2 days, I'll have to get something else. (Not sure what though) My options aren't very big at the moment.
I believe the first batch of P800s will come from the GSM operators (and have SIM lock or NetLock) and only after (jan2003 ?) will we see SIM free P800s on the retail channels.
At least in Italy, according to www.p800.it, the operators have secured an order of some 20.000 P800s from SE with the condition that they and only they would have the exclusive for the first run.
So, beside the UK network problems, the AC power plug issue, I don't think you UK fellows will be able to get *continental* P800s to play with, unless ofcourse if you will be willing to use a *continental* SIM with it wink
1 November 2002 - We now expect the P800 to start shipping early in 2003, sorry to everyone who hoped to get one by the end of the year.
Has anyone found a recent press release from SonyEricsson concerning the release date or price of this crispy little number?
