im making a trip to my nearest service center this morning to get my 6630 updated to get rid of screensaver bug. and hopefully the problem where my phone switches itself off.

anyway i just want to know if i need to back the phone up? will it be totoaly wiped clean?

Hi,

Yes, back it up if you don't want to lose contacts etc.

Everything will be gone after the update. Obviously you could backup to the MMC then once you leave the Nokia service centre restore straight away again rather than use your PC.

Got mine back yesterday and they put on 3.45.133

.133 ok nice ive got 113 so thats probably pretty much the same no point in reflashing until 3.46.xxx i reckon

well it turned out to be a complete waste of time, after confirming on the phone that they could update my 6630 without having to have it sent away, i then arrive to find that they will have to. what a waste.

still the center was in hastings (seaside town in uk) so we had fish and chips and sat by the sea in the sun so wasnt a total loss.

So what i'll probably do is take it to my local vodaphone store and get them to send it off.

Does anyone know if the voda 3g phone sims work ok in other phones? im sure i read that 3g sims are differnt? id need to take my sim out and whack it in an old phone for a few weeks.

cheers
