Text problem!!

My 6630 locks when I type two exclamation marks together (!!)... this happens when writing SMS's & MMS's. I'm using software V 3.45.113 and haven't installed any third party software. It's not a huge issue, just a bit annoying as phone needs to shut down & re-start to unlock!! :frown: Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know how to fix - other than not typing !! of course 😃

Have you installed some application that uses this sequence as some kind of indicator to do something? If you uninstall programs one by one (and after each try typing), you should find out which one it is. Or you can try a full reformat of the phone to reset it to the state it was in when it left the factory where it was made.

Try formatting the phone. If that doesn't do it, take it back to where it was bought.

Will try formatting tonight :frown:

Got more problems now... quite often incoming calls go straight onto answerphone even tho I've got full signal strenght! DOH

Anyone else had this issue?

yeah I have the answerphone problem too, a good 30% of my calls go straight to answerphone, I'm on orange.

I'm on orange too... the answerphone problem is really intermittant. Haven't formatted my phone yet so will see if the answerphone problem improves when that's done.

oh my god, not the answering problem again 😞
i hope i won't have this problem.
maybe the latest software update can solve this ?

I just rang orange about the answerphone problem!! They confirmed that 3G is available in my area (I knew that!) but thought the problem could be with the signal switching between 2G & 3G?? To be honest he wasnt really sure what the cause could be... he suggested cancelling all diverts by typing ##002# as apparantley some handsets have gone out with some wierd call diverts preset (huh?!). Also suggested a soft reset (remove battery with phone on, leave for 10-15 seconds then switch back on) which I explained I've had to do several times cos of the phone locking when I type !!
Anyway... he sent a sim update to see if that makes a difference and said he'll pass it on to the technical department and they'll let me know within 48 hours if it's a coverage issue or a handset fault.
I've had the sim update, I've done another soft reset and tried ringing my handset... approx 50% of calls are still going to answerphone even tho 3G signal strength is showing almost full!!!
Will see what Orange come back with.

I did call orange customer support 2 or 3 months ago regarding the problem they said they would run tests on my number, I got a call back from them a couple of weeks later confirming that some of my calls were going to answer phone :stupido3: and said that they would continue testing, not heard anything else since, the problem remains. hard reset did not solve it either.
