Hello Everybody,
I guess my subject field tells it. Why does my 7650 (v.3.12) fail to to this simple match. Am I missing something or is there a way do it. (firmware upgrade maybe!)

If you have same number twice in your phonebook with diffrent name entries that happens.
And the numbers prefix(es) dont count.
Indeed, JK is right, for instance I had my house land line under "Home" and under "Seb Belcher" as my business card and the names never showed up.
That's right. If you have a number stored in both places (SIM and Contacts that is) the phone will have trouble. Also the phones seem to care for the last seven digits for some reason. Why I don'y know... DO you???
But, I am referring to something different. In my case, 7650 does not perform matching a calling number with an entry stored on the SIM card. Matching works only for CONTACTS. There should be some means of doing it.
Any ideas??

Yeah, now I understand your question (I think).
Yes. That does not work. All numers must be in Contacts ( phonebook)
not on SIM for caller names to appear. I dont know why, must be just laziness from nokia coders 😃
At last I've found an answer to this problem! Thanks everyone, will be be back to check forum for some more tips
I have a different kind of weird problem I dont know if any one else has experienced it or not but here you go
I have a phone number stored in my contacts which ends with the numbers 107 meaning the number is XXXX107
My local GSM operator service number is 107 so whenever I receive an SMS from them I get the name of my friend who has the number that ends with 107!!!
Corr... what a weird one... stumbling through the threads this evening, seeing what's new, I come across this one - jogs my memory as to why one mate of mine never pops up as his contact details when he phones me...
Turns out, his entry in my contact list has two identical entries for his mobile :-? It's a bit late here in the UK to get him to phone me now but I'll check this out 2moro....

i bet this is it. nokia peeps must have thought that no one will bother using the sim card for number entries because of the 7650's phonebook.
