i tried everything to get my nokia 9500 to work as a modem.
Anyways...finally its working now...

Background :-
I have advanced GPRS (called APN in India)
I'm on the Orange Network
I got the settings OTA called " Hutch_www "
I connect my phone to my laptop (WIN XP SP2) via BT.
I created a new dialup access point & put *99***1# as the phone number to dial & used the Nokia 9500 as the modem.

Usually this gives an error when u try dialling. It used to connect for 1second & then dis-connect.

This is what i did.. i went to Phone & Modem settings in control panel & went properties of the Nokia 9500 BT Modem. Then i went to the advanced tab & put the following in the extra initializing commands....

AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","www"

Now my Nokia 9500 works as a modem via BT. i'm sure this will work thru IR 7 Cable as well.
Instead of www you can put ur own GRPS ACCESS POINT NAME

this works perfectly well for me. Let me know how it fairs for others.
