I'm new here, but I've read numerous numerous threads regarding the same subject but haven't found exactly what I was looking for, so here it goes.
I understand how to get GPRS service on my laptop via bluetooth by dailing *99# however I don't feel like paying the 24.99 for media net service.
Now I have numerous free dialup accounts such as my works and bellsouth so this is what I did and please correct me if my logic is wrong.
Under Access Points I have 4 default ones:
Home
Media Net
Multimedia
Roam
I added a 5th called Bellsouth
Data Bearer set to Data call
Dialup number = xxx-xxx-xxxx (whatever the number is)
username = xxxx
prompt password = no
password = ******
authentication = secure
homepage = none
gateway = 0.0.0.0
data call type = analog
maximum data speed = 14400
Now on my pc I setup the dial string as *99***1#
Now my question is since I have unlimited nites and weekend can I use this and not get billed from Cingular? Or do they charge me? Oh and for those who ask, why would you want to do this, oh that's crappy speed, oh you should do this instead, please understand, I'm doing for principle that it can be done....
