using timer in C Symbian with GPRS

hi all,
i want to ask how can i use timer function in c symbian to periodically sending data thru GPRS..

does anyone know timer function and establishing a GPRS connection in C symbian? also what editor i could use?does C++ can accomodate it?because i have visual C++..

any advice will be appriciated..
