Is there any simple way of breaking into a .SIS file and getting hold of the files to do a manual install onto my 9210. The reason I want to do this is because my phone crashes every time I try to install be it from the computer or after copying the file to the phone.
This is a problem that went away a while ago and has come back to really annoy me. I'd format it etc and start again but I'm loathed to incase this doesn't solve the problem and I can't even install the standard files.

Dear Flipside,
Once Neuon made an app for ER5 called 'nSisutil' to open sisfiles manually. I still use it on my Psions. It seems that nSisutil was a quit simple app. Symbian changed the format of these sisfiles (much more sofisticated). So it will be hard to make an app like nSisutil for ER6

Damn them and their evil hating ways, ah well I guess it may be re-format time then.

I had that problem as well.
i formated my card, wanted to install the All file and just befor the end my phone lost connection.
i can load all the files manually, but that one file just does not work.
i belive it is because of the MMC card itself. i just ordered a 64MB (was using the nokia original) MMC card. can't wait to see if that works.
Any one else have some experience?

a better way is to install all SIS you need not from all nokia data SIS, but from INDEPENDENT SIS files. that is my way, and since all this are smaller, the probability to crash is much smaller.

I had exactly the same problem with all mmc data. In the end I had to install all the files individually. I have often had similar problems with synchronising contacts via PC suite. It was a lot worse under Windows XP than 98. v1.60 of PC Suite improved things some. I have just downloaded the latest version of PC Suite v2.03. I haven't installed it yet, so I don't know if it will help at all.
yeah, before my format I as unable to install apps from my pc...
Maybe you could try installing them in the emulator and then copy the files from the emulator to the real thing ... you'll need to keep a listing so you know which files were added ....

Could you please enlighten me on this emulator?
The nokia 9210 emulator comes with the SDK from Nokia. It is intended for developers to test their apps.
Not much use for the normal users because apps from the real device won't work without recompiling on the emulator.
But it will install the apps, so Switchblade could install the apps in the emulator and than copy the modified files.
