Confused about Quickoffice....

16 replies · 3,840 views · Started 06 April 2005

Does QuickOffice work on the Sendo X. The actual Quickoffice website appears to be in two minds about it and I haven't recieved any reply from the support team. Also, does Quickoffice allow you to edit documents rather than just view them. It's just I'm thinking about getting the keyboard as well and I'd really like to be able to hammer out documents on my phone as well.

Quick Office 2.0 works fine on the Sendo X - Ive not had any problems with it and yes you can edit documents.

AAaarrrgh!. I've just installed Quickword on my Sendo and I can view documents but I can't edit them - please say it just something I'm doing wrong otherwise I've just bought a 50.00 keyboard for no reason!!

The information you give here is not correct!

Officially, QuickOffice 2.0 Premium (with editing capabilities) only runs on
Symbian V2 (Os7 ->😉, and hence will not run on either the Sendo X
or the Sendo X2.

I have tried it, and knows this for sure!

The only version of QuickOffice with editing capabilities that works on the
Sendo X (I have heard) is a cracked version of the UIQ version. But this
is an illegal product.

Can anyone supply me with this version? I really do not want to go down any illegal route but given a lack of any alternative, I'm pretty much screwed.

Yes, you are not the only one who feel screwed after buying this phone I can tell ya!

The thing is, I'm not unhappy with the phone. I've been using the phone for a while and seems pretty good. What I'm annoyed about is that support from QuickOffice has been non-existant and nobody knows of any suitable alternatives. I don't suppose you know the version number of this UIQ version?

Lack of support for Quickoffice is annoying me as well!! And this is not the only
software that wont run on this phone I can tell you!

I also bought this phone for a business/entertainment multi-purpose unit,
cause this was how Sendo marketed the phone.

Wow what a dissapointment, have never been so dissapointed in my life about
any product!

No, I do not know any version number, but it is probably version 2+++ since
it has editing capabilities.

messus - Ive PM'ed you with a possible solution.

The version I trialed worked well, including editing.

Just a comment about the negitivity on this forum - Ive never visited a forum with sooo much b!tchin about the product intended to be supported by the forum befor. Ive had my sendo X for about 3 months now and while it has a couple of quirks its not a bad phone, maybe people set the expectations a little to high !

PS - But then I paid 60 for mine so maybe im a little more forgiving 😃

I hear you.

Still, I think people who read the forum are entitled to hear everybodys opinions
about this overpraised phone, (which in my opinion has so many flaws it should
never had been released), not just the ones who are british and wants to protect
Sendo in that regard, or those who defend their brand loyalty stupidly and
unconditionally because they in someway are on Sendo's payroll.

I payed 400 for mine, so I don't care what others say, I think I am entitled to
say whatever I want..

Also, if you check out my threads you will see that I have helped a lot of people
on this forum, e.g with how 2 dissasemble/dismantle the X.

And, I cannot provide files (which I don't have), which are illegal.

If you are happy with your X I am happy for you, I have never been so
dissapointed in my entire life with any product I have bought.

As you said, it is all down to freedom of speech. If that is the case then i disagree with you as i have had a very good experience with my phone.
I am British but i do not have any brand loyalty to Sendo or any other products i buy. However, i do appreciate what is essentially a good smart phone and considering this is Sendo's first attempt i take my hat off to them.

They have now announced the follow up Sendo X2 which looks great and according to the AAS forum members who saw it at a pub meet in Birmingham recently, they say it is a very nice looking phone with good functions and features and it would appear that Sendo have listened to the comments from users. This is also evident when you consider a year ago they flew out engineers to meet end users in Netherlands to help investigate and resolve problems they where having, and they provide a means to resolve other software issues via firmware updates.
All in all i think the Sendo X is a good phone and the support we receive is excellent (i usually get a response from Sendo within a couple of days if i submit via their online support system).

There we go, considering this is their first attempt.... I do not care if it is their
first, second, or 100th attempt, when I pay 400 for a "smartphone" I expect
it to work as a Smartphone..

As have been said by many, manytimes before on this forum, we have been
beta-testers for this phone, and that is not right!!!

The X2 good looking? Hmm, well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

I suppose we will have to agree to disagree then!

That we can agree on! 😊

My Sendo was a bit cheaper than yours, so maybe I'm a little more lenient. Also, my Zodiac will always be a faithful back up if needed. Its still early days in the world of Symbian for me, so I don't really know what to expect from a Smartphone...
