Hopefully this discussion isn't considered out of bounds by the rules of the forum, i hope not...
All I'm wondering is with the A920 can a simple sim unlock from a nearby phone shop remove the simlock to "3". I'm sure i have read somewhere that in order to remove three's hold over the phone you have to have it flashed to a non-three network, and a simple sim unlock wont work (say with a smart-clip).
Any help on that would be appreciated, esp any help you may feel needs to be PM'd... 😉
Thank you all in advance.
Mitch
(P.S. I now have the A1000, trying to sell on an old A920. The allowance of external software increases the love of these phones a hundredfold! However if there is anyone out there wanting to buy this A920, I'm sure reasonable offers would be considered! It's got everything it came with.)

That is incorrect. My phone was unlocked by simply entering a special code. The code is IMEI specific, so asking for it from me won't do you any good.

lol, i wasn't going to ask you for it, i know they are specific (else one would pay and the world would suddenly all unlock their phones!) I was just making sure that it could be unlocked so readily, cause i know a lot of the features, eg the 3 portal links on the home page are put there by three and so 3's influence over the phone isn't merely simlock.
Thank you for answering though, just down to the shop now!
Cheers again,
Mitch
Sorry about that, but I've been asked for it so many times now that I simply state that out of convenience 😉 And, as you've figured out, the Three-specific things in the firmware will stay there no matter if the phone is sim-locked or not.

I sensed a bitter tone, but thought best to leave it, might just be a bad day! 😉
I thought as much, its just my GF wants to sell hers (she upgraded to LG8210, me to the A1000, foolish girl!) and it'll prob go on ebay or something, but its got a lot better chance if its unlocked. She hasn't got hers flashed to A925 either, so i was asking because if you couldn't just sim unlock it, i might as well try and get it flashed on a non 3 version with the BT/IR upgrades all in one go. As it stands, the simlock will be just fine, I dont wanna go through the aggro only to see it be sold anyway. I think there are programs in here anyway that lets you change those three pages on the home page - might include a link to it when its sold.
Anyway! Thank you again!
Mitch
