Hi,
All the gumph claims that the phone is a Tri-Band.
However nearly ALL the specs you read anywhere, claim it supports: 850/900/1800/1900. & automatically switches between all four - not Three!? Surely this is QUAD-Band?
So which is it Nokia!??
Maybe someone can enlighten us all.

You can better believe nokia's own specification which says:
Tri-Band Operation * EGSM 900, GSM 1800/1900 networks in Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific, North America, and South America where these networks are supported
* Automatic switching between bands

I don't know whose specs you've seen, but no Nokia spec that I've ever seen says it it supports 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 in a single device.
There are two variants of each model; one with 900/1800/1900 for the GSM markets all over the world except North America, and another with 850/1800/1900 for the North American GSM market.
In other words, they are most definitely triband phones.
You can also get the enlightenment you are seeking by reading the specifications on http://www.nokia.com/phones/9500 and http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/9500

Look at http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/9500 AGAIN it is for US markets and GSM 850 is no where to be found.
My call to the Nokia USA confirmed that there will not be GSM 850 released at all!
So what QUAD-Band you are talking about?
When there's a US operator that decides to take it, it'll be available, not before. A big enough retailer that is not tied to any operator would do, too, if they order enough. Nokia manufactures phones to order, not to sit and wait in a warehouse.
