Moving from P910 to A1000

After many years of having SE phones I now have an unlocked, generic software A1000.

Its better than the p910 in many respects, but I'm still having problems with a couple of things:

1) handwriting input - I like the Jot system on the p910 but can't find anywhere its available for the A1000 - anyone know of any alternatives - I'm not getting on with the built in software

2) GPRS counter - the p910 has a built in counter - is there something similar for the a1000?

(By the way I have read the manual and trawled handango, so I'm not hopeful)

3) I can't get opera to load on the a1000 - it just sits there - any alternatives to the built in browser?

That's about it - otherwise a brilliant piece of kit. Only the second Motorola I've had that I actually like

As for Opera malfunctioning on the device; Opera is supposed to be pre-installed on the phone, so I dont quite understand why it does not work.

You did not install a new Opera version onto the phone? As far as I know, you can not use the versions avaliable for SE P800/900 on this phone. If you donwloaded this version and tried to run it, it may explain the crasching. You have to use the version that came with the phone.

I think you're right - I hadn't realised that the built in browser was opera and tried to install the p900 version. Its a shame because the built in browser doesn't seem anything like as good as the browser on my p910 which seems to adjust to fit the screen much better. I'm now trying out NetFront, though I only downloaded it last night so can't really comment yet
