Smartmovie plays badly with sound

Hi

I bought Smartmovie a couple of days ago for my 6630 and I'm having real trouble getting it to work with sound.

I've installed xvid codec to the phone and PC.. I can convert and play movies with no bother as long as they have no sound...

But if I enable sound the movie clips are jerky, freeze, crash Smartmovie and play in slow motion....

The sound settings are as low as they can go.. 8000Hz, 8Kbps etc. And still make the clips unplayable...

This includes the bike clip installed with Smartmovie.

Can anyone help? I'd appreciate it.

Thanks
Jon

Very odd. Tried reinstall? Latest is 2.72

I am aware there's a Lame mp3 codec issue. Certain versions or types done work so well. Others are perfect. Your problem is different.

this is an interesting thread,

as i use smartmovie as well. I haven't put long movies on it yet, but the testmovies seem to work.
My 6630 is now in for a firmware update, could anyone tell me what are good settings for good quality movies on the 6630 without having to suffer too much in the data amount area ?

Is it possible to install a different version of lame for use by Smartmovie?

Thanks

Actually thinking about it i have the same issue just not as bad. On my movies no matter what i encode at i get this frameskip after 5-7 seconds no matter what quality the sound is?

I use xvid and both 3ivx codecs for video.

Odd eh.

Very odd..

I'm having better results with Mpegable... Actually damn good results. The only downside is that 'occasionally', I get a file that won't play past 2:40 - But a lot of people have this issue.

It just bugs me that I don't know why Smartmovie doesn't work with sound....

Could it be that the latest version (2.72) isn't fully compatable with the Nokia 6630? ...

i don't know about that, but the latest firmware: 4.0 .... something for the 6630 has support for some kind of AMR sound.
If you could just go to a nokia service point in your area and get this firmware on your 6630, it might help everything.
I'll have my phone back tomorrow if all goes well, and then i will be able to test it properly with smartmovie.

good luck ! :icon14:

Let us know if it makes a difference?

Mpegable is just crap. smartmovie with this only slight issue is a milllion times better than that. Mpegable quality you can barely make out people's faces. With smartmovie the quality is pixel perfect. 😊

FDXD, which settings do you use for smartmovie converting?

Ok so the problem has finally presented itself..

Is anyone actually using smartmovie on a Nokia 6630? Because.......

As well as posting on the forum, I have been e-mailing Lonely Cat Games about the issue.

Now bearing in mind that in the first e-mail I sent, I stated that the phone I had was a 6630. Today I got a reply back from my third e-mail to them.... It seems there are compatability issues with the 6630. They will be fixing the issue in 'the coming days'....

Maybe some 6630's work better than others??

Cool. Its a great program. If they sort it out it will be perfect IMO. Will hi-speed memory cards help?
