Hello all - nubie X user here.
Before I get flamed I will state that I have used the search function for this 😊
The problem is that I can't find a thread that wraps this up in one tidy little package. My question is - what is the best firmware for this handset and what should I look for as far as "improvements" go afterwards.
I know where to get the firmware, I know how to flash the handset, what I do NOT know is how to select the best one for me :frown: Also, I know how to get the IME and what not, but do not know what other information from the phone you will need (eg. the current firmware).
Any comments, links or guides would be appreciated. I should be getting the phone in a few days so I am trying to get my stuff together before it arrives. Ebay purchase from here in the states, but I do not know where the original owner purchased from (phone was sold as "new" - we shall see). Thanks again.

Well I think it even says so somewhere on the Sendo Website when you're in the update process. You can try it out cause it will go some way before you actually download the firmware.
Anyway somewhere on the battery there's a code that corresponds with (part of) one of the codes given to the firmware. The firmware has different versions for countries/suppliers.
But like I said: go throught the update process on the site and you'll see what to do.
ok - so i fi understand you correctly, when i connect the phone to the pc and select "update" or whatever, it will give me prompts along the way to assist me in selecting the correct firmware?
All the info you need is on the label.
Although not generally needed, the IMEI is below the barcode
The main bit of info in relation to software updates is the sales pack number, which can be found is on label on the 3rd line (above "Made in Netherlands"😉 and begins 8Y.
All you need to do then, is match up the sales pack number with the software you download from http://www.sendo.com/Sendo/Support/Downloads.htm which also includes a step by step guide on updating your software.
The best firmware is the latest version 1.98.5.2

You don't need to connect anything if you want to check it out. You can try it out now, even without a Sendo X.

so what "improvements" can i expect to see? also, will flashing to the newest firmware rid the phone of most of the problems i have been reading about? the more i read here the more worried i get about having made a dud purchase. thanks.

I bought Sendo X few days ago. I try to upgrade my phone to latest version (1.98.5.2), but I couldn't find the correct FW for it according to my PN, my system info as below:-

I believe my phone is an unlocked version, I am not using Vodafone provide service now.
And now the problem is I couldn't find the correct FW in Sendo's official website for my phone. I am a Chinese user, I couldn't return my phone to Vodafone or customer service center here. anyone tell me what could I do? Or any other
FW can suitable for me?

The IG line on your phone's software version tells you which firmware you have to use - in this case the Vodafone UK firmware.
It doesn't matter if your phone is unlocked or still locked to Vodafone - it will still only accept the Vodafone software update.
If you download the latest Vodafone version from Sendo's website (1.98.5.2) then it will load correctly on your phone.
Mauyuk - I am currently learning Chinese at the moment. If you find any intersting Chinese apps or find a pinyin or stroke input system, could you let me know?

Of course!!
If u r interesting in such apps, i can email to you. i think some Chinese fonts will suite your phone, it can make your phone display/input Chinese perfectly.

and am i the only one that thinks "ultra-bright" for backlight is a little over rated? this screen looks dull as all get out to me 😞

The "hang" at the white screen at the end is quite normal...just pull the battery and restart the phone.
yes, that is what i was referring to above. i reformatted after getting the white screen (good thing their are directions on the update program). all seems to be well. thanks again.
