If the Nseries devices are to bring the latest multimedia technologies and smartphone functionalities together, then the obvious gap of gaming needs to be filled. So where does this leave Nokias other N-xxx device, the N-Gage? Theres going to be a lot of eyes at E3 the biggest gaming conference in the world at the end of May - thanks to today's announcement.
Nthought For The Day
I think that's an excellent point Ewan. The main uses for Nokia products have been represented at the highest possible level across the N series:
- phones (the N series are all top of the range 3G)
- PDAs (the N series are all wi-fi symbian smartphones)
- cameras (the N70 is a high quality camera)
- video cameras (the N90 is a high quality video camera, VHS quality according to a Nokia moderator on N-gage.com)
- music players (the N91 is effectively a super-iPod with visual radio, video playback, and you can buy music straight from the internet onto the N91)
- ...and gaming. But no gaming phone in the N series... yet.
Wiener also pointedly refused to name any kind of date for an N-Gage 2, he just said "by 2007".
I think you might be right, Ewan...
