panes are a pain

ok - yes i am new and before you flame, i used search 😊

i can't figure out how to move or add applications to the panes (tabs) no matter if i make a new pane or modify an existing one. can someone help me out? running the latest vodafone firmware from the sendo site. thanks.

I'm not sure exactly what you want to achieve...

Do you want to get rid of all the panes in Now! (in which case you can, all apart from the default "My Pane"😉

OR

Do you want to add an application link into one of the panes in Now!?

Solution for number 1 is: (remembering you can't do this on the default My Pane) - Press options (left softkey) - select Delete Pane. Voila!

Solution for number 2 is: (available in any pane) - Press options (left softkey) - select Application Link - Click to select the application you want then press OK - then name that application link as you want - press OK. Voila!

the "My Pane" you speak of on mine is dfraulted as "Now!" i have worked my way through the menu system of adding a link and what not - BUT - i can't seem to find a way to add THIRD PARTY applications, as this is what i am trying to do. if i could get this to work (and solve the other issues 😉 ) this would be my dream phone.

thanks 😊

Ahh, I see the issue - yes, for some reason, some third party applications refuse to show up in the list of those available... Java apps. do appear to show up most of the time though ???

Unfortunately, I think this is a bit of a bug... Kev, are you reading this?

perhaps a firmware revision? as i said to you in pm - if this would work the way i want, this would be my dream phone and i would own three of them by now.

thanks.

When on the Now! screen go into Options then Application Link then click and I get a list of options of which most of the standard and third party apps are listed.

Mondred - it's a firmware issue - as soon as I get a chance to do some thorough testing on my spare handset, I'll let you know how / what seems to affect this.

As a start for me, which firmware version is on your phone?

stu - i am running the latest vodafone uk release from the sendo site. looking forward to a newer revision though as there are still some nit noid bugs in this one. thanks.

Perhaps a new pane may clear things up. Start the phone up and it should take you straight to the now screen. Push the left softkey "Options", go to "Insert Pane" and give it an appropriate name. The Now! screen should then go to your new pane - if not, press right a few times on the cursor pad. When the blank pane is visible, follow the instructions above regarding "Application link". I use the Vodafone version of the Sendo as well. What I have found is that very programs use their own icon in the Now Screen - most just use the generic grey jigsaw piece. I have found with a couple of programs that a link through the Now screen doesn't work properly - If I find out which they are, I'll let you know.

Mordred - Do you have any kind of instant messenger? If you're online this evening, I'll try and talk you through it step by step. It may highlight where you're going wrong. PM me to sort this out.

Mas - just hit you with a PM. We will have to work out the time zones in order to chat.

On that note - Stu, I know you have - but has anyone else been able to get Agile Messenger to work with the X? I have tried all versions of this application (ran fine on my 6600) but can't get it to run on the X. Seems to run fine, then boots me into the "charger do loop" that I posted about a while back. This is the one application that I actually need (besides profimail) to "complete" my phone. Thanks.

Mordred

I know Kev uses Agile Messenger, but I think he's got an older version of it (where I'm using the latest).

Interesting - I have tried the older and the latest. What handset "version" of the program are you running? eg. "For" Nokia 6600, 3260 etc. There are many versions and perhaps I have tried the wrong ones.

actually - any of you have this program working i would be interested in seeing what "made for" version and version number you are running. what i mean is that on the agile website there are various phones listed for program download. i have tried darn near all of them and get the same results - it either works, but gives me problems, or it does not and i get the "app closed" routine.

if you have a working copy on your phone, do you have it installed on the mmc/sd or in the main phone memory? all my installs have been to the mmc. would this make a difference?

thanks.

Mordred

Masamune - thank you for taking the time to assist this evening.

Apparently you can't add an app to a pane if the app is installed onto a mmc/sd card.

...no, that's not quite true...I install virtually every program on my phone to the memory card (the one exception being FExplorer) - *some* of them are available as app. links in Now!

The ones I have available , however, are ALL Java games - none of the "proper" apps. that are on my memory card show up!

Interesting 😉
