As there are two type of Cover 1. Xpress On For 7610, 6630
2. Repair Cover For 6600
Nokia 6680 will suport Repair Cover
Can it be replaced or we have to use this cover till we owns a Phone.

They have just started posting different covers on ebay. Believe they are fitted along the lines of 6600 were ya have to somehow unclip the old one.

Now just need a 6680
non official accessories have now superceded 6680's release
Nice one Orange

Yeah, I've noticed the covers on eBay. I'm interested about how to remove the covers, so if anyone has done it, or could post pictures that would be much appreciated. I had a go myself and got front fascia almost off. apart from at the top, but I was unsure how to remove the backpiece (not the battery cover) rather than risk damage I thought I'd wait and see what anyone else knew

I don't have phone yet but have got new fascia for when arrives (if it arrives - nice one orange).
By looks of things top of front is held in by back piece.
Back piece is held in by two smalll clips at the top which hook into front and two larger clips at bottom which I believe attach under camera lense.
Cannot say whether best to remove back piece from top or from bottom until get phone.
Have posted some pics of case to give ya idea how it fits together

do you all think that it will need some tool to open it, or just open it like other nokia with xpress on?

I think u need some tools if u want to open neatly other wise it would damage the plastic.
I haven't Tried yest but saying bcoz i spoil my 6600 cover while opening myself which getting through it.

after playing about a bit I managed to get my cover off without any damage.

First take the battery out you'll see the 2 small clips by the end of the battery compartment. Twist a largeish screw into the gap below and gently pull out. Do one side at a time and insert something fairly small and soft under the side you have pulled up first to stop it locking back in. Once both sides are done carefully wiggle the top end off.
The front cover can now be removed easily by inserting a fingernail under the bottom of the cover and slowly following round.

Would you be able to post any pictures up on this. I would very much appreciate that. I'm struggling to get the jist of what you are saying on removing the top antenna cover.

I see there are lost of fascia's now available on ebay

Can anyone help by putting some pictures up of the instrucions on removing the cover?

replacement covers (3pcs, original, keypad not included) here in the Philippines cost php2875.00 (about $53.00) since n6680 came with only two colors, Silver Blue (the one i own) and Light Bronze.

I used a pair of needle nose pliers and gently pulled each of the tabs out from underneath. You then slide the cover section out towards the top of the phone. It's actually easy. Thanks for the help. Without your posts, I would have broken something.

I just came back from china and hongkong where they have the original covers for 6680 by Nokia but the colors available are the two colors offered by Nokia, tat is blue and bronze only, seems those covers are only meant for repair purposes when you damage your covers, they even selling tool-kits there to help you open your 6680.

Ordered a couple off Ebay, should be here tommorrow, have followed those instructions to remove the cover and it is actually quite simple, much easier than the 6600 was, Nokia could have quite easily sold the 6680 as having removable cover.

I'll let you know the quality of the e-bay ones when they arrive.

Yeah I was wondering about the quality of those on Ebay, but can't deny that they look quite good on screen.

Just got mine, quality is fine!
Nice snugg fit, slider works smoother than my original one and the spring action works good.
Looks and feels pretty decent quality not quite as thick plastic as the original but has all the nokia logo's on - even comes in a nokia box.
100% Thumbs up from me 😊

Care to post photos?

got all the gear and am ready to go,but still nervous of messing it up.
is it really as easy as those pics show?

hi,

i just did the change with a cover from mobile.brando.com.hk (delivery took one week to eu from hk)

as you mentioned:
1. remove battery cover and remove battery
2. take a small nail and use head of nail to pop up 2 plastic clasps at top end of battery compartment.. then remove camera cover
3. carefully remove the front by sliding your finger around the edges

i only posted as i tried with a screw and you risk damaging the metal battery holder...

with regards,
toby

Go on to www.Altavista.com and use their translation tool Babelfish to change it from Italian to English, makes a bit more sense
