Order of files?

It seems that all files are sorted by newest first... I can't figure out how to sort alphabetically, and also display folders first.

How do I do this?

Anyone know? I've tried searching for multiple terms/keywords but just can't figure out how to sort the files in the system in another way...

There isn't any built-in apps (ways) to do it. Perhaps if you find a "file manager", "album" or "gallery" app that allows it...

Or you could, e.g., persuade the author of FExplorer to support filtering of files of specific type and displaying them in different orders (by name, by date, by size, descending or ascending order, etc.): http://www.gosymbian.com

I'm rather confused.

I can't comprehend why the operating system would have been built this way... to display newest files first, and even bypasses displaying folders first... :S

Probably user studies have shown that most people want to get to their newest stuff most often/quickest. It doesn't mean that all do, or that you do.
