I have just swapped my trusty and dented 6310 for a 6260. I have a logitech bluetooth earpiece that I assumed would work with the new phone. - It does not, the phone can pair with it, but it will not connect. The Nokia Bluetooth headset connects fine, so does my palm tungsten pda.
I thought that Bluetooth was a standard communications protocol, and if so, why doesn't the logitech work?
Many thanks for your input
Kym
Bluetooth is a standard that consists of many specifications and different versions thereof.
There are, for example, two specifications that serve almost similar purposes: "Bluetooth Headset profile" and "Bluetooth Handsfree profile".
Since they are overlapping most Bluetooth headsets support both profiles in order to work with the widest variety of devices.
All Series 60 phones to date support only the "Bluetooth Handsfree profile" (it works with most headsets and carkits).
I suspect your Logitech earpiece only has support for "Bluetooth Headset profile" (and that the 6310 supported it).
That'd explain why it doesn't work.

Woow .. that was informative and to the point. Gave me a lil knowledge too .. always wanted to know about this non-compatibility issue with BT headsets ..

Great answer - many thanks - what would we do without forums
Dam it mine saying the same, is there like a patch to sort it with out having to get rid of my celllink bt headset?
No patches, unless whomever made the cellink headset can upgrade it to also support the Bluetooth handsfree profile.
Hello!
I've been trying now for weeks to connect succesfully my 6260 to my tungsten T5. No luck. After trying every trick in the book (for example looking for the Nokia 6260 init string in the website, to every other init strings posted in different forums) I find myself with the same problem, My T5 can't connect to my Phone using the phone link utility, or GPRS, all settings are correct on the phone. Evenmore, when I do a Zero Out reset on my palm and all settings are back to default something weird happens when I configure manually my palm to use the 6260 as a modem via bluetooth or to use the connection to dial from the PDA, IT WORKS! BUT NOT FOR LONG! I browse the web happily thinking that I resolved the issue, but as soon as I disconnect to the network, and reconnect later it doesn't work (darn!). Everytime I try to connect after the first succesfull connection it gives me the FAMOUS error 0x0305 Faulty modem ... blah blah blah, or unable to connect to phone error. Drivers are not available and hopefully they will be soon, but my question is... If it does connect the first time and works perfectly, WHY DOESN'T WORK THE REST OF THE TIMES?! Please anyone with an answer to this please let me know because it is driving me insane.
Thx for your patience,
Giacomo
