SMS problems on phone interface

18 replies · 4,497 views · Started 31 December 2001

Recently, I have been having crashes almost everytime I use
the phone
interface for texting. I get a message saying, in very bold
letters
"message has been moved to outbox!"
And all the other messages in all the other folders (draft,
sent, etc)
will be identified as "message". If you try to read them,
another bold
emphatic message is displayed on screen "message in use!"

If you try to access Messaging through the communicator
interface, I will
get an error message that reads "Messaging will not open
(or something to
that effect). Unknown error."

Except for SMS Assistant v. 2.10, I do not have any other
3rd party
software. My OS has been upgraded to the latest.

Really puts a cramp on using the phone for SMS. That
function is what I
thought was sorely lacking in my 9110.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but did that already. Doesn't help. Seems to be a bug on the phone side of the 9210 if you're a fast texter.

Thanks anyway.

Just uninstalling sms assistant may not be enough, it seems to leave a few unwanted bits that can still cause problems. It's a nice program and is in it's infancy yet so i accept a problem or two but you may have to format the little fella to clean his memory out.

my phone went exactly the same, it caused real problems. I think it is SMS assistant, as it happened soon after I installed it, and uninstalling it did not help. The way I got rid of it was to have my phone software upgraded (due to an unrelated problem) - but I'm assuming that formatting the machine will do it to.

My findings!
Run sms ass dont use it alot but found no problems with my phone after installing it.

What i did find was that after running ActiveDesk i need to restart my phone else the sms side of my phone just keeps crashing and well all the above mentiond errors come up! Witch is a sad cause i think ActiveDesk is lovely but i cant leave it running cause of all the problems!

Thank you very much, guys. That does make sense.

One other thing my phone seems to want to use Communicator storage better than the MMC. Repeatedly shifts to the card. Lost messages due to this.

Thanks again.

Even without removing the battery, sometimes I suddenly discover that it has changed storage, usually when I use the phone interface for SMS.

I have a problem when receiving SMS, instead of appearing the name as in the contact list, the SMS only cames with contact number ex
+351(country code) 96500505, I added +351 in all contacts but the result was the same, the problem is that I almost have to guess where the SMS is from..
can anyone help ?

- sorry for the bad english -

Only the number is displayed by the 9210 (or the 9110) is you have more than one entry for the same number.
My guess is that you have a duplicate under another name.

hmm, I have de contact list in my D /system/data- I checked if there were any duplicate phone number, and none matched.. by the way, even if that was possible, it would only be with that specific number, and not all.. this sucks by the way, it reminds me of my old samsung User posted image im in serious stress, because i receive a lot of SMS..
anyway thanx all of you User posted image

It doesn't show the names because your contacts is in d... move it to c and should work.

JeP

in the manual it says that "for a data base to work it must be stored on system/data of a memory card", apart form that I moved the data base to C /system/data but then the phone couldnt find it! User posted image <font size=-1>[ This Message was edited by T-Stoff on 2002-01-10 1531 ]</font>

Open Contacts
Open your database in mmc
Ctrl + A
Shift + Ctrl + C and choose Communicator

Should work..

JeP

*g*
I did that, and only appeared to me the following options

.Contacts (communicator icon
.SIM Card (SIM icon)
.Contacts (data base icon)

when I copyed all of them, my contact list duplicated the contacts User posted image
there must be something..

lazy me! User posted image

problem solved!
I erased all data bases, and moved the contact list to the default directory with no data bases, only "my card" and SIM!
thanx all of you !
